Wolfgang Kube studied modern oboe from 1981-1985 with E. Glocke at the "Hanns Eisler" Music Conservatory in Berlin.
This was followed by engagements with the Schwerin Staatskapelle and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.
During this time he started playing the baroque oboe. After the reunification of Germany he was able to fulfill a long cherished wish and leave East Germany to go to Holland and devote himself to early music. There, from 1990-1994, he studied baroque oboe with Ku Ebbinge at the Königlichen Conservatorium at the Hague.
An extensive concert career with leading baroque orchestras (including the Academy of Ancient Music, Concerto Cöln,and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin ) has taken him through Western and Eastern Europe, the Near East, Southeast Asia, and Japan. In addition, he has participated in CD productions as well as radio and TV recordings.
Since 1997 he has been a teacher of historical oboes at the "Felix-Mendelssohn-Bartholdy" Music and Theater Conservatory in Leipzig.
In addition to his career as musician and teacher, he has been making woodwind instruments since 1992, inspired by P. Dhont and M. Ponseele, who themselves are also performers and instrument makers.
Since 1994 he has produced his instruments in his own workshop. All his practical experience has been channeled into their production, thus guaranteeing careful and exacting workmanship and attractive instruments of the highest technical standard.
